Many people say that violent videogames are causing our kids to become more violent. I say shoot them in the face. Yes videogames are part of a cultural machine in a violent and oppressive world. They don’t necessarily dictate the times we live in as perhaps they are a reflection of those times. Without getting into a whole long winded debate about life imitating art debate. I as a 27 year old meat eating American male like shooting people in the face. There are several games on the market today that would make Senator Lieberman’s skin crawl but people like me giggling with excitement. Shooting someone in the face is not something I condone in reality, however shooting people in the face in a virtual world is something that not only makes sense but is, and should be rewarded.

In fact we can all rest assured because there are in fact several legitimate gaming organizations that do reward players for shooting each other in the face. Quakecom and other multiplayer gaming events garner thousands pf top players with prize money into six figures. So go placate your desires to shoot each other in the faces with these recommended shooters

Grand Theft Auto III
Where else can you pick up a prostitute drive her to a dark alley in the middle of the night, pay her for her services and regain health points, for those that said Detroit, well that is correct as well. Grand Theft Auto III is the edgiest adult oriented videogame since Dana Plato’s Oscar inspired performance in Night Trap on the short lived Sega CD. If you haven’t already, check it out on the Playstation 2.

Max Payne
Another shoot them in the Face inspired game from Rockstar Games. You are a gritty New York cop your wife and infant child have been murdered (In front of You) You are pissed and loaded with balls to the wall guns and ammunition. Now on X-Box and Playstation 2 although the Playsation 2 version sucks in comparison and is virtually impossible since you cannot quick save. Coming soon for PC as well

Halo
Everyone’s favorite X-Box launch title is more Sci-Fi oriented than the previous two games in that you are on the planet Halo and have weapons of the other worldly variety. Despite these shortcoming this is a great Shoot them in the face game with lot’s of carnage and dismemberment. X-Box Flagship title.

Soldier of Fortune Double Helix
The long awaited sequel to Soldier of Fortune should provide hours of online Shoot them in the face gaming excitement using a new random map generating feature that creates multiplayer maps leveling the playing field. PC Only
